Welcome to
The Big Cat Sanctuary

The Big Cat Sanctuary in Kent is a centre dedicated to the conservation of wild cats, with the objectives of welfare, breeding, education and conservation. The initiatives undertaken are a vital part in saving some of the planet’s most endangered and iconic species from extinction.

The Sanctuary is proud to have contributed to the accredited global breeding programmes as well as donating to in-situ conservation projects. The centre offers personal big cat experiences including overnight stays, photography workshops, ranger days and educational tours.

Our Five Pillars of Ethos

Protecting wild cats is more than a mission. It’s our purpose. Everything we do is guided by five core pillars: Welfare, Breeding, Education, Conservation, and Rescue. These principles shape how we care, how we speak, and how we continue to stand with wildlife, safeguarding the future of all 40 wild cat species.

Welfare
At The Big Cat Sanctuary, every resident receives expert, round-the-clock care-purpose-built habitats, daily enrichment, tailored plans, and specialist veterinary support, so they can thrive physically, mentally, and emotionally.
We’re proud to support the fight against extinction through the European Endangered Breeding Programme, safeguarding genetically diverse populations of threatened species via scientifically coordinated breeding efforts as wild numbers decline.

Knowledge sparks action and change. Our education programmes ignite curiosity, build empathy, and inspire conservation through immersive tours, experiences, and tailored learning—welcoming thousands each year to connect people with wildlife.

Protecting wild cats means protecting their ecosystems. We support in-situ conservation worldwide, partnering with on-the-ground organisations to safeguard habitats, reduce human–wildlife conflict, and involve local communities in sustainable, long-term solutions.
Many wild cats suffer exploitation, neglect, and illegal ownership. The Big Cat Sanctuary provides refuge-rescuing via international relocations (e.g., Ukrainian Big Cats in Crisis) and emergency interventions closer to home.
